運命の一冊との出合いをつなぐ新進気鋭の書店
新刊を扱う書店はあまりなかったという三鷹に、昨年9月にできた新店。「現代はネットやSNSのおすすめ機能ばかり頼ってしまって、＂自分で選ぶ＂機会が少ないけれど、自ら見つけたからこそ思い入れや愛着が湧くもの」と店主は語る。その言葉の通り、あえて一定の分野に特化せず、幅広い新刊ラインナップを揃えているという書棚には、エッセイから人文系、フェミニズムの書籍からZINEまで、店主のセンスが光るセレクトが並ぶ。「手に取りやすいけれど、本質的なメッセージを持つ本を選んでいます。こんな本があったんだ！という新鮮な驚きを届けたい」。自分でお気に入りの一冊を探し出す楽しみを味わえる。

Mitaka did not have many bookstores which had new books until UNITÉ opened in September last year. "Today, with the Internet and the social media recommending us which books to read, we have less opportunities to choose books ourselves. But when you find your book yourself, it has more meaning and love," says the owner. This bookstore store carries wide varieties of books rather than specializing in one genre. Seeing essays, books about social science, feminism, and even ZINE on the shelves, you can tell the owner is putting so much work. "I choose the books that are catchy but has some messages to tell.
